Introductory Course: 1 Day Basic Mortuary Care
At IFISS, we design and deliver training programmes to individuals and groups whether you’re new to the industry or want to upskill. And with the new year upon us, now is the ideal time to prioritise your professional development and join us for our upcoming courses.
And we’ve just announced dates for our upcoming Introductory Course: 1 Day Basic Mortuary Care.
This full day course is an excellent way to enhance and broaden your knowledge of our industry. It is ideal for those who have been exposed to the mortuary, are comfortable with caring directly for the deceased, and feel ready to start learning the hands-on skills of mortuary work.
During the session, you’ll gain a realistic understanding of the requirements and what embalming involves. You’ll learn more about the expectations and challenges, whilst furthering your appreciation for the art and craft of the profession.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this training, the participant will demonstrate a satisfactory standard.
- Basic Manual Handling
- Follow mortuary work Health and safety procedures (SIFEWHS001)
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Understanding Mortuary Terminology
- Basic Instrument knowledge
- Set Facial features (SIFEMWK006)
- Aspiration (SIFEMWK007)
- Basic Cosmetics and hair presentation & Dressing of deceased (SIFEMWK008)
- En-coffin Deceased person (SIFEMWK 001)

It’s time for our Christmas Raffle
